The book Revelation is an extremely important document and the reason being it the last Holy Spirit-inspired Bible book written. It therefore was placed correctly as the last book in the Bible. Just like the first four Gospels in the New Testament open with the good news about the first arrival of Christ, Revelation ends the New Testament with the general theme of the second coming of Christ.
“Revelation” means “to remove a veil.” The book unveils, announces and reveals. When a statue is being unveiled, the veil or cloth is taken off the statue at a specific moment. It is being unveiled so that it can clearly be seen by everyone.
In 95 AD God pulled away the veil for John and revealed the future events to him. God’s future plans with humanity and the world became clear to everyone. It covers events that would have taken place since the first century AD; from church dispensation up to the fullness of time.
