An Indian judge said he has remained friends with Laurette and her husband Barry because they were not typical diplomats. This book gives us an insight into the interesting, sometimes funny and sometimes strange experiences the writer had during their last three diplomatic postings in India, Kazakhstan and Iran. The writer does not necessarily focus on diplomatic experiences, though it was due to her husband’s career as a diplomat in the South African Foreign Service that she was propelled into these fascinating countries.
