The word commitment is in essence not a biblical concept. There is nowhere in the Bible that God ever asks us for a commitment. The Church, on the other hand, loves committed people. Surrender on the contrary, refers to the act of yielding or relinquishing control or possession of something, often in response to a stronger force or authority.
In the spiritual context, surrender might be interpreted as letting go of ego-driven desires and accepting God’s will, His purpose, and His destiny for your life. It is the willingness to give up possession or control of something and yield to God’s power and control. It is also the renunciation of my legal rights and laying down all control. it is not what I can do for God anymore, but what God can do through me.
